In this video, I explore the often-overlooked mental side of judging: the dispositions that shape how we see, compare, and decide. Drawing on the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory (CCTDI) and adapting it for the context of dance battles, I present seven key dispositions—such as truth-seeking, open-mindedness, and inquisitiveness—that are essential for fair, consistent, and reflective adjudication. This talk offers a framework for judges who want to go beyond instinct and deepen their responsibility, self-awareness, and clarity in the act of comparison.
