The Recoil can also be explained as a backlash. By moving just a little bit in the opposite direction than intended a very dynamic effect is created. In Locking, that Recoil is applied to every move when initiated. What is as important as the visual effect of this movement is the timing of it as it is done on the double-off. It is the syncopation that makes it funky. Storm is usually using a sound: the Ptack. Not a Patack, but a very short Ptack. The P before the tack is the move into the opposite direction.
